Checking the connections to the CarPlay stereo is the first thing to do to stop CarPlay from interrupting the radio in your car especially if you have a wired carplay connection.

You can start by disconnecting the USB connection and reconnecting it back. If this doesn’t work, get a different USB cable and connect it to see if the problem is solved.

If replacing the connection with another USB cable solves the problem, then you have a bad USB. If after replacing the USB cable the problem persists, you can follow other methods explained in this article.

However, if you are making use of a wireless connection, ensure that the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections are enabled. You can do this by going to Settings > Wi-Fi and then turning it on. For Bluetooth, go to Settings> Bluetooth, and turn it on.

Furthermore, you can also disconnect the USB to stop the CarPlay from interrupting the radio. However, this is possible if your CarPlay is connected through the USB cable. Don’t forget to select “Never Enable” on your stereo when you wish to charge your phone using the iPhone.

Method 2: Restart your Car and Your iPhone

You should ensure CarPlay activates automatically whenever you start your car. If it is not activating automatically, then you should:

  • Look for the CarPlay logo on your car’s display

Method 4: Forget the iPhone and Set it Up Again

Just like you did with the CarPlay from the method above, you can also do it on your Apple iPhone. This is very important. Don’t forget only the CarPlay, you must forget both to get the result you are looking for, To do this, you should:

  • Go to your iPhone Settings and forget the iPhone
  • Rename the iPhone from your iPhone Settings > General > Reset
  • Now, connect your iPhone to your car stereo again and test it out.

This should solve the problem. Both method 3 and 4 should be used at the same time. However, it is important to note that this will also reset Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings you’ve used in the past.

Method 5: Update Your CarPlay

Another possible way to stop CarPlay from interrupting radio is by updating the CarPlay to the latest version. All you have to do is check if you are still using the old version of CarPlay for your car.

If you do, update it. You can use the latest firmware from the car manufacturer to do this. You can check your car’s manual for more information.

Method 6: You Can Disable the CarPlay

I don’t recommend doing this but if the CarPlay keeps interrupting your radio and none of the methods explained above worked, you can go ahead and disable the CarPlay.

However, what is the use of having the CarPlay function in your car if you can have it disabled? It doesn’t make any sense at all. You won’t be able to make use of the functions that come with the CarPlay.

Well, the decision is up for you to make. You know how unsatisfying the non-stop interruption is causing you.

I wanted this to be the last method for a reason. You need to first test other methods before doing this because of the disadvantages of factory resetting your car stereo. It can be very tiring putting all that information back.

If you don’t know how to factory reset your car stereo, you can contact your car manufacturer or look for the manual. If it’s an aftermarket stereo, it should come with a manual.
